Turnout vs Velja
Velja and Turnout both become your default browser and send each link to the right browser or profile. Velja is a polished, mature picker with more URL clean-up. Turnout is built around the links work sends you: Chrome profiles, Slack, Google and Outlook links, and rules it can write for you.

Compared in October 2026 from each app’s own website. “Not listed” means we couldn’t confirm it there, not that it’s missing.
Choose Velja if
- You use Firefox profiles, or want tracking parameters stripped and short links expanded.
- You want Shortcuts support, a URL scheme or JavaScript URL transforms.
- You’re already on macOS 26 and prefer paying once up front.
Choose Turnout if
- You’re on macOS 14 or 15. Velja’s current version needs macOS 26.
- You want to start free. Turnout’s free version keeps working, with no reminders.
- You sign in to several Slack workspaces and want each sign-in in the matching Chrome profile.
- You want to see exactly which rule caught a link, and fix a wrong one from the menu bar.
Switching from Velja
Once Turnout is out, install it, choose it as your default browser when it asks, and add your Velja rules in Settings › Rules. Domain rules carry over one for one; regular expression and source-app rules need Pro.
